At Inedo, we continually strive to improve our products through not only our own vision, but also through customer feedback. In the coming months, our product suite will be released according to a schedule and common theme in order to exceed customer expectations of quality and consistency, while minimizing risk. Product releases fit into one of two categories:

Major Release Cycle

A major release typically implements a brand new feature or overhauls an existing one, and likely contains backwards-incompatible API changes.

1 major release per product per year

Maintenance Release Cycle

A maintenance release may contain backwards-compatible enhancements, bug fixes, and security patches.

2 maintenance releases per product per month

Next Generation

Targeting for Q2/2020 (pre-releases in mid-April)

This will be a transformative release focusing on containers, and bring our container features on-par with package features: semantic versioning, layer visibility, etc. But there will also be some great improvements for packages as well: you’ll be able to see where your packages and containers are actually being used, not just where they’ve been deployed in the past.

Targeting for Q3-Q4/2020

We will introduce the concept of “compliance as code”, which basically will be like declarative configuration, but ensuring that configuration is maintaining its expected state. There will also be stronger integration into ITSM.

Targeting for Q4/2020 – Q1/2021

First-class support for containerized build and testing.
